UPDATE
We received the following in our guestbook recently from K.Garner. Many thanks for taking time to send in this info on Lt Cornes.
A very interesting site and a worthy project. For interest, in case you are still searching for information: Temporary acting Lieutenant Noel Julian Cornes, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (killed 9.7.1942, Scapa Flow)was the son of Julian Cornes, a district and sessions judge in Bengal 1897-1919 and also a partner in Cornes and Co., Japan. Noel was almost certainly born in India, like his elder brother, John Frederick Cornes, 1910-2001, who represented Great Britain in the 1932 and 1936 Olympic games, winning a silver medal in the 1500m in the 1932 games in Los Angeles.
